While Las Vegas has recently embarked on an adult oriented marketing campaign with
the famous slogan, "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas," there are still
many things for families to do here. For fun on The Strip, families will enjoy the
family oriented activities in
Circus Circus. Another fun highlight is visiting the
M&M or Coca Cola stores near the MGM Grand Casino. Children also might like
to watch the pirate fights just outside of
Treasure Island. Other fun sites are
the
Dolphin Habitat
at the Mirage and
Shark Reef
at Mandalay Bay.
Most of Las Vegas' museums are friendly to the entire family. For younger children,
Lied Discovery Children's Museum
is perfect since it offers many tactile activities
like a mock grocery store. Visit our museum page to learn more.
Families will also enjoy the many day trips that are possible when visiting Las
Vegas. Fortunately, many are less than a two hour drive away from Las Vegas, and
many companies offer tours to these destinations by road and air. For families looking
to escape the heat of the city, visiting nearby Mt. Charleston is an excellent option
since temperatures are significantly cooler on the mountain. Another way to escape
the heat is to go boating in Lake Mead. The nice thing about Lake Mead is that the
water will cool anyone down, but the water is refreshingly warm most of the year.
